Although former WWE superstar Goldberg has clarified in the past that he is only affiliated with WWE through the video game "WWE 2K17," a new report says that a full-on comeback is now on the table.

Before the WWE SummerSlam, there were rumors that Goldberg will be returning to WWE via the said pay-per-view event to promote the game. This obviously did not happen.

However, TMZ is now reporting that the former World Heavyweight Champion could return to the WWE ring soon as both parties are currently talking "about expanding their working relationship."

At the moment, there appears to be no deal finalized yet, but Forbes says that the chances of the legendary professional wrestler will largely depend on the contract that WWE will offer.

Fans will remember that before the brand split, there were reports that WWE reached out to former WWE talents to bulk up the roster of both Raw and Smackdown, but majority of them turned down the offer for being too low.

This could be the deal breaker for Goldberg, who, despite being out of the ring for 12 years, remains a big star in the business with his name still drawing excitement from fans.

WWE legend Sean Waltman better known as X-Pac believes that Goldberg returning is a "win/win for both sides." "The only thing I can say is, why not?" the pro wrestler said during his new show "X-Pac 1, 2,360."

"Who cares about the past, you know? Nobody in wrestling should ever say the word never, because everybody ends up eating that particular word and Goldberg's not going to be any different," he went on to say.

There is certainly a huge amount of anticipation surrounding the possible return of Goldberg. He is expected to battle Brock Lesnar when he returns as they have history together. The Beast was defeated by Goldberg during his retirement match.
