Windows 10 Mobile leaked eligibility list reveals Windows phones receiving OS

Microsoft confirmed last month that Windows 10 Mobile, originally set to be rolled out this month, will now be distributed to Lumia handsets early next year. The software giant did not reveal the reason behind the delay, not to mention the Windows phone models lined up to get the update.

While the tech firm remains mum about this, a user from Reddit shared a purported list of the devices Microsoft is planning to upgrade to the latest operating system. If the list is anything to go by, the tech firm will be releasing by batch.

The first set of devices allegedly getting Windows 10 Mobile before any other Windows phones include the Lumia 1520, Lumia 830, Lumia 930, Lumia 640 variants, HTC One M8 for Windows and the Lumia 950 and 950 XL, which have the OS pre-installed.

Next in line for the update are Lumia 1020, Lumia 1320, Lumia 520, Lumia 525, Lumia 526, Lumia 620, Lumia 625, Lumia 630 variants, Lumia 720, Lumia 822, Lumia 920, Lumia 925, Lumia 928 and Lumia ICON.

The third and supposedly final group of devices that will eventually be switching from Windows 8 and 8.1 to Windows 10 include Lumia 635, Lumia 636, Lumia 638, Lumia 730 Dual SIM, Lumia 735, Lumia 430, Lumia 435 variants, Lumia 532 variants, Lumia 535 variants and Lumia 540.

It is important to note that not all Windows phones will be receiving the highly anticipated, long-coveted Windows 10 Mobile. As it turns out, Microsoft is planning to leave out several smartphones and Winbeta believes that it is primarily because the software requires the Windows 8.10.14219.341 build and at least 1.5GB room for the software.

These devices, as per the list, are Lumia 530, Lumia 610, Lumia 800, Lumia 810, Lumia 820, Lumia 900, Samsung ATIV S,LG Lancet, HTC 8S, HTC 8XT, HTC 8X, Dell Venue Pro and Samsung Omnia 7.

There was no detail provided as to when the Windows 10 Mobile rollout will take place. The leaked list is yet to be corroborated by Microsoft too, so until the company says so, it is best to take it with a grain of salt.
