In an attempt to develop more high-quality games, Ubisoft announced that they would be delaying the release dates of some of their popular upcoming video games, specifically, "Far Cry 5" and "The Crew 2." Another unnamed game's release is also set to move to Ubisoft's fiscal year of 2019 – 2020.
"This decision is in line with our strategic vision of developing even more engaging and higher quality experiences for gamers," said Christine Burgess-Quémard, Ubisoft's worldwide studios executive director.
"Taking more time with Assassin's Creed Origins enabled our talented development team to fully express their creative vision. As expected, this had a very positive impact on the game's quality and largely participated to its commercial success. Taking a similar approach, we have decided to invest additional development time in three upcoming games," she continued.
"Far Cry 5" will now go live on March 27, 2018 instead of its initial release date of Feb. 27. Players need not fret since the game's release is pushed back for only just a month.
"Far Cry 5's" gameplay setting is mostly set in Hope County, Montana. Players must create their own characters and try defeat the religious cult of Eden's Gate and relieve its clutches in a fictional Montana town. Players can now pre-order the game on Amazon for $59.99.
However, players can also opt for a Gold Edition of the game which includes the DLC season pass and some exclusive content. Another more expensive version is the Father Edition, which, aside from the DLC season pass, also includes an exclusive figurine, a printed map, a steel box case, and a collector's box.
Meanwhile, "The Crew 2's" new release date is set in accordance with Ubisoft's fiscal year of 2018 – 2019. Instead of March 16, the game's launch will probably fall between April 2018 and September 2018.
Fans of the online racing video game should expect no major changes in the map, but some new features are also in store for the upcoming sequel. One of those is the addition of boats and planes, so players can now race in the water as well in the sky.
"The Crew 2" will be coming to Xbox One, PS4, and PC. It has not yet been announced whether the game will also be made available to the Nintendo Switch.
