Toyota's motorsports arm Gazoo Racing has released a teaser image for the Super Sport Concept ahead of its official debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2018.

The Super Sport Concept will be the newest vehicle to join the GR Sport Series. Announced back in September, the range features vehicles that have been designed for motorsport activities.

Toyota's racing division revealed that the Super Sport Concept is an example of how they can incorporate the technological feedback and expertise they acquire from national rallies and races including the World Rally Championship (WRC) and World Endurance Championship (WEC) series.

Toyota has not revealed specific details about the Super Sport Concept but based on the teaser image, it features sleek hard-top race car silhouette that seems to have been inspired by a Le Mans prototype race car.

However, at this time, there's no indication that the Super Sport Concept will be developed into an actual race car. It's possible that the concept vehicle may be transformed into a street-legal vehicle. On the other hand, it could simply be a display vehicle designed to attract spectators at the Tokyo Auto Salon next year.

Meanwhile, the Japanese automaker's lineup at the annual auto show will also production vehicles that have been tuned by Gazoo Racing. Specifically, the 86 GR and the Yaris GRMN. The latter will be a special-edition model with only 150 units to be produced and sold exclusively in Japan. These vehicles will showcase how Toyota is able to introduce customization options that will further enhance the driving experience.

The Tokyo Auto Salon 2018 lineup will also include vehicles that will be competing in the 24 Hours Nürburgring endurance race in May 2018.

The Toyota Gazoo Super Sport Concept will make its official debut at the Tokyo Auto Salon on Jan. 12, 2018. The auto show will be open to the public on Jan. 13 and 14, 2018. It will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.
