Tom Brady hand injury update: Patriots' quarterback misses practice, expects to play against Jaguars

Tom Brady, the star quarterback for the New England Patriots, missed the team's practice last Thursday, Jan. 18, due to a nagging hand injury.

The reigning Most Valuable Player for Super Bowl 2017 has remained silent regarding the his injury. This has caused a lot of speculations especially since the AFC Championship game featuring the Patriots and the Jacksonville Jaguars is scheduled this Sunday.

Not much is known other than the injury is at his right hand, as Brady was recently seen wearing a red glove on his left hand during a stretching session.

Brady typically wears gloves in his left hand, so the occurrence caused media personnel present in the practice to speculate.

There are reports from The Boston Herald that the hand injury was caused when a running back crashed into Brady during a practice prior to Thursday. According to the same sources, The Boston Herald also noted that there was "no structural damage" to Brady's hand.

This has caused speculations that the quarterback will be available for the championship game against the Jaguars. While Brady and the Patriots continue to remain silent, teammate and quarterback Brian Hoyer talked to the media.

Hoyer particularly said that Brady looked "great" in an interview with USA Today Sports. Hoyer did not explain any further.

With Brady possible to miss the Patriots' championship game, Hoyer is expected to be active for the Patriots, whether as a backup or a starter.

"I know how to prepare like I'm going to play. And if I don't play, then that's good for our team. If I do, then I'm ready to go," Hoyer said in the interview, after he was asked about his preparation for the upcoming game.

Fans and media alike expect Brady and his team to elaborate the injury as Patriots head coach, Bill Belichick is slated to talk to reporters in a press conference on Friday, Jan.20.

Whatever is the situation on Brady's hand, supporters of the Patriots can feel a little at ease given that Brady showed up in the stretching session at the very least.
