Devout Christian and former Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is no stranger to weathering life's storms.
Despite his personal successes in the football field, he has encountered trials in life that tested the strength of his faith from which he emerged as an even more steadfast follower of Jesus Christ.
And now, Tebow is about to share his thoughts on overcoming disappointments in life on the road to success as he puts the finishing touches to his new book, titled "Shaken: Discovering Your True Identity in the Midst of Life's Storms." The book will be published by WaterBrook, a Christian imprint of the Crown Publishing Group, and is set to hit shelves in October, according to the New York Daily News.
In the book, the former Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback seeks to inspire readers with the lessons he learned from his trials and successes as an athlete, according to the book's self description.
"In revealing passages, Tebow pulls back the curtain on his life, sharing the vulnerable moments of his career that have shaken him to his core — while also teaching the biblical principles that will enable you to keep the faith, no matter what comes your way," the book says.
Tebow said the book not only includes stories from his life but also features stories of people and events that have inspired him along the way. "My goal for this project is that you are encouraged and you walk away equipped for both the highs and lows in life," he wrote on his Facebook page on Thursday.
The book is the second for Tebow who earlier wrote "Through My Eyes" in 2011.
Tebow quickly rose to fame in the sports of football but faded away in the same fashion in just three seasons with the NFL.
After a successful four-year career at the University of Florida, Tebow was taken in the first round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Denver Broncos. However, the Broncos traded Tebow to the New York Jets after just two seasons, despite the fact that he led the Broncos to a 7-4 record, plus that dramatic overtime win over the Steelers in the 2011 playoffs.
The Jets then released him the following season after he attempted just eight passes in limited action.
Tebow joined the Patriots' and Eagles' training camps in 2013 and 2015, respectively, but was never signed. Although he has not officially retired from the NFL, Tebow hasn't thrown a pass in a regular season game since 2012.
On Dec. 30, 2013, he was hired by ESPN as a college football analyst on the SEC Network.
Tebow has endeared himself to the Christian community for speaking on their behalf. In the Philippines, Tim Tebow has preached the Gospel in schools and villages, and assisted in medical care. He reportedly supports more than 40 Filipino evangelists.
Tebow has started his own organisation called the Tim Tebow Foundation, which helps build hospitals in impoverished areas, creates playrooms in children's hospitals, provides financial aid for adoptive parents, and hosts prom nights for special children, among many other things.
