Tim Tebow still one of NFL's most popular quarterbacks despite being out of the game for years, survey shows

Several years have passed since SEC analyst Tim Tebow last played in a regular season NFL game, but he still remains as one of America's most popular quarterbacks.

The Public Policy Polling survey recently revealed that the 28-year-old philanthropist ranked as the fifth most favourite NFL quarterback, coming after Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Aaron Rodgers, and Cam Newton.

The survey asked 410 NFL fans, "Given the choices of Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Peyton Manning, Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger, Tim Tebow, and Russell Wilson, who is your favorite NFL quarterback?"

While Tebow ranked high among fans' favourite NFL quarterbacks, he also made it to the people's list of least favourite NFL quarterbacks. Brady came in first, followed by Tebow and then Newton.

Tebow's football career began when he played for the University of Florida Gators back in 2006. He received the Heisman Trophy award in 2007, then joined the Denver Broncos in 2010. He transferred to the New York Jets in 2012 before being selected by the New England Patriots in 2013.

He moved to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2015 but was passed over for an open quarterback position.

Even though it was difficult for Tebow to be removed from the game he loved, he handled his dismissal with grace and fortitude.

"Thanks @Eagles and Coach Kelly for giving me the opportunity to play the game I love! Romans 8:28 #Blessed," Tebow tweeted back in September.

Kelly explained to CBS Sports that Tebow had to work on his game further before going back to the NFL. "Tim's really progressed but we didn't feel like he was good enough to be the three right now," he said. "He just needs to get out there and get more reps."
