Tim Tebow mocked by liberal media for breaking up with girlfriend over row on his abstinence vow

Football star Tim Tebow has become the subject of unflattering jokes after it was reported that he was dumped by his girlfriend, former Miss USA Olivia Culpo, because he refused to have sex with her prior to marriage.

Newsbusters even collected some of the taunts made regarding their split: "Tim Tebow still can't find the end zone as girlfriend Olivia Culpo breaks it off over lack of sex."

Another quip goes: "For once, it's not Tim Tebow who's having trouble scoring—it's his girlfriend."

"Apparently an NFL job isn't the only thing Tim Tebow can't hold onto," another media publication commented.

Writer Dylan Gwinn, author of "Bias in the Booth: An Insider Exposes How Sports Media Distort the News," clarified that Tebow did not really lose Culpo since he simply let her go to maintain his pledge not to have sex before getting married.

"It's called making a choice based on deeply held religious beliefs—something the liberal sports media might know about if they would ever even attempt to make any choices based on deeply held religious beliefs," he wrote. "But here's the thing, why is it hard to just report that Tim Tebow and his girlfriend broke-up because he doesn't want to have sex? Isn't that the journalistic news piece here? Isn't that the critical information?"

Gwinn said the mockery Tebow is receiving from the liberal media is just another smear campaign against a Christian athlete.

Meanwhile, TMZ reported that the split between Tebow and Culpo was all a hoax since they were never together to begin with. According to the online news outlet's sources, the two personalities met at church and Tebow "did show interest in Olivia, and they hung out a few times WITH mutual friends."

However, they "never had a one-on-one date," TMZ said. "Bottom line—no dating, no break up," it added.
