Fans of the longtime-running science fiction drama television series "The X-Files" need not wait for another 15 years for a new season — Fox recently announced that season 11 would air January next year. New details about the upcoming season have also been announced, with episodes four more than the previous season.

To appease television critics, Fox has already announced the titles as well as episode descriptions for the first five episodes of "The X-Files" season 11. The upcoming season would consist of ten episodes, much to the joy of the show's fans, since season 10 was a short one with only six episodes aired.

The first episode is titled "My Struggle III" and is written and directed by Chris Carter. The episode synopsis is as follows: "Picking up after the last event series' cliffhanger, Mulder and Scully learn that they aren't the only ones desperately searching for their long-lost son, William. The very fate of the world may depend on it."

Meanwhile, the second episode is titled "This" and is written and directed by Chris Morgan. According to the episode synopsis, it seems that the sudden reappearance of an old friend will shock Mulder and Scully to their very core, revealing a "chilling secret."

The third episode is titled "Plus One," and is a collaboration between Chris Carter and director Kevin Hooks. The logline states, "A spate of deaths, in which the victims were plagued by their own doppelgangers, lead Mulder and Scully to a pair of twins playing a dangerous game." Karin Konoval, who first appeared in season four episode "Home," will be guest-starring in this episode.

"The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat" will be the title of fourth episode of the upcoming season. It is written and directed by Darrin Morgan and will mostly focus on the idea of "The Mandela Effect." Brian Huskey is also set to guest-star as "Reggie Something."

For the fifth episode, titled "Ghouli," an investigation concerning a pair of teenage girls who could be monsters in their true form may finally lead Mulder and Scully to a clue about their long-lost son, William. The episode is written and directed by James Wong.

Episode titles and descriptions for episodes six to ten are yet to be released by Fox. "The X-Files" season 11 will air on Jan. 3, 2018, 8:00 p.m. EST on Fox.
