Fans are still reeling from "The Walking Dead" season 8's midseason finale after Carl (Chandler Riggs) was shown with a bite in the ribs, possibly from a walker. As a lot of viewers shared their reactions, the 18-year-old star's father, William Riggs, also aired his sentiments about the death of his son's character.

In a Facebook post, which was already taken down, William revealed that it was "disappointing" to see the series' showrunner Scott Gimple fire his son. This happened two weeks before his 18th birthday last June and after they have told him that they wanted him to be on the show for the next three years.

"I never trusted Gimple or AMC but Chandler did," the patriarch continued to say. As a father, he knew how it has hurt Chandler. However, he remains grateful to be a part of the show and appreciates all the love the fans have given his son over the years he was in "The Walking Dead."

To recall, in "The Walking Dead" season 8's midseason finale, Carl revealed to his on-screen father, Rick (Andrew Lincoln), that he was bitten by a walker. Although he did not die at the end of the episode, fans already know what Carl's fate would be.

In fact, Chandler himself already confirmed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he is about to die when "The Walking Dead" season 8 returns in February. He even said that his exit is something that he "never expected," thus it is "devastating."

Justifying Gimple's decision to kill off Carl, Chandler said that the showrunner is just trying to justify how they could make Rick want to kill Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan). Gimple, on the other hand, said on the Sunday episode of the "Talking Dead" that what will happen next in "The Walking Dead" season 8 is important to Carl's story, the cast, and the entire show. He also said that the most important thing now is that Carl is still alive, and he has some business to do.

"The Walking Dead" season 8 will return on Feb. 11, 2018 at 9 p.m. EST on AMC.
