Electronic Arts (EA) has provided a couple of new content packs for its current life simulation video game "The Sims 4." However, in spite of the studio continuously supporting the game with consecutive expansion packs, the rumors are rife that EA is preparing for an all-new "Sims" game, "The Sims 5."
Fans have been demanding a few changes in the game setup of "The Sims 4," and the expectation is that EA will address these demands by launching "The Sims 5" in the coming years. Unfortunately, EA has yet to confirm whether the game will get a new version. Rumor has it that "The Sims 5" will be officially announced in 2018, while the game will be released worldwide a year later.
While most reports suggest that "The Sims 5" will arrive in 2019, Mobipicker suggested that EA might not be able to work on "The Sims 4" follow-up in just a short span of time. The expectation for the next "Sims" game is huge, and EA needs to look for more interesting contents to include in it. This is why the players may not see "The Sims 4" before 2020.
Without a formal announcement for "The Sims 5," it is hard to speculate what EA has in store for the fans. Nevertheless, the studio has mentioned that it is open to the possibility of creating a new "Sims" game in the near future, although everything will depend on the performance of "The Sims 4" in terms of sales. Based on this statement, the chances are growing that "The Sims 5" will see the light of day, given that the previous DLC packs have helped to increase the game's sales.
One of the top requests of the fans for the next "Sims" title is the game to have an open world setting. To note, "The Sims 4" has veered away from this setup, focusing on just one household. The fans hope that EA could bring back the same format from "The Sims 3," where players can control the whole neighborhood.
