'The Post' updates: Upcoming Steven Spielberg film expected to be part of Oscars 2018

There are speculations that Steven Spielberg's newest film "The Post" will be part of the upcoming Academy Awards in 2018. The American historical drama film will premiere on Dec. 22.

The film stars Academy Awards winner Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks. Streep and Hanks are also joined by talented actors such as Sarah Paulson, Bob Odenkirk, Bradley Whitford, and more. The movie depicts the story of renowned journalists Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep) and Bren Bradlee (Tom Hanks). The film centers on the challenges faced by Graham and Bradlee when they tried to publish the Pentagon Papers during the 1990s. DreamWorks Entertainment and 20<sup>th Century Fox will serve as production companies for "The Post."

According to GoldDerby, several critics and fans are predicting that Streep and Hanks will be nominated for Oscar's best actress and best actor categories. It is also said that the movie has a lot of potential to enter other categories with its big production team, amazing supporting actors, and of course, Spielberg himself. Vulture's Oscars predictions also include Hanks for best actor, Streep for best actress, and "The Post" for best picture.

20<sup>th Century Fox had already released the first trailer of "The Post" and it was well received according to comments on YouTube. Several individuals expressed their excitement over the upcoming film and for the chemistry Streep and Hanks will introduce.

Streep and Hanks had the chance to work together on the documentary film "Everything Is Copy." However, "The Post" will be the first movie that Streep and Hanks will be seen acting side-by-side.

Esquire released a list of its predicted movies to be highlighted in the upcoming Academy Awards in 2018. The list includes "The Post," "The Shape of Water," "Mudbound," "Get Out," "Blade Runner 2049," "The Big Sick," and more.
