The events of the summer finale of "The Fosters" season 5 have certainly set several things in motion for numerous characters. As the series is preparing for the second half of its fifth season, spoilers involve handling exes as well as family reunions.

Starting off, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) is prepared to deal with her crazy ex-boyfriend. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show's executive producer Bradley Bredeweg discussed the chances that Nick (Louis Hunter) was lying to Mariana when he said he had some important information regarding the Anchor Beach Charter School.

In the summer finale, it was revealed that he was also the one who sent her the message. Fans know Nick to be the ex-boyfriend who seemed to lose it when Mariana ended things with him. Even though fans are worried that Mariana may still be traumatized by Nick's past actions, Bredeweg said that Mariana will become mature enough to deal with him.

Bredeweg revealed that Nick does have some information that Mariana can use. "I can tell you that Mariana is maturing and she will handle Nick in a really respectable and badass sort of way," he said.

Other than having to deal with a crazy ex, Mariana will also find love again in the second half. There is a chance that she will reunite with Mat (Jordan Rodrigues). The two of them did share a dance together during prom and fans are hoping for the possibility of a reunion.

Meanwhile, Jude (Hayden Byerly) will find himself reuniting with his biological father Donald (Jamie McShane) in the second half of season 5. Bredeweg hinted at Jude's story arc in the upcoming installment. Jude will continue to explore the world of online gaming. He will also enjoy becoming an influencer and earning some recognition from fellow players both young and adult.

However, being so preoccupied with gaming, Jude is bound to get into some conflicts with his family. Jude will be able to see Donald again, and maybe even talk about things that the father and son could not talk about before.

The second half of "The Fosters" season 5 is expected to premiere next year on Freeform.
