"The Blacklist" season 3 returns on Jan. 7.

Cabal, a deadly and unforgiving organization facing the risk of being exposed along with their horrible crimes, will be closing in on Liz when "The Blacklist" season 3 returns. Red has to run against the clock to save the former FBI agent-turned-fugitive before the killer group gets its hands on her.

However, if the newly released synopsis is anything to go by, Red might be running a bit behind but not too late to put together his ultimate rescue plan. The summary for the second part of the midseason premiere "The Director" reveals that Liz will eventually be on the receiving end of the Cabal's gun.

In the conclusion of the two-part "The Blacklist" season 3 opener, the group is close to gunning down Liz and shutting her up for good but not before Red brings into play his "final ultimatum." In a bid to save Liz's life, he teams up with the task force to trick Cabal into exonerating her.

Carter Matt believes that by the end of this two-episode special, viewers will finally have a greater understanding of the show's direction. This season, as per the site, has been very unpredictable and "The Director" could be the game-changer.

Speaking of which, fans are wondering how the pregnancy of Liz's essayer Megan Boone will affect "The Blacklist" season 3. Many have started thinking that a baby might be bulking up the cast soon. But nothing seems to be set in stone yet.

"We are still trying to figure it out," executive producer Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly. "It plays in a number of different ways, both story wise and physically, for Megan in trying to figure out what that would mean to the show," he added.

He explained that it is very difficult incorporating a baby in the picture, especially with the show managing to establish a father-daughter relationship between Red and Liz.

Whether or not Boone's pregnancy will be included in the show, only time will tell. "The Blacklist" season 3 returns on Jan. 7, 2016.
