'The Affair' season 3 premiere, spoilers: Noah and Helen have moved on but only one is happy

Helen and Noah in "The Affair" Showtime

When "The Affair" season 3 premieres, fans will be taken three years after Scott (Colin Donnell) died. The characters all have something to do with it, but its toll will be different on each of them.

In the season 2 finale, it was revealed that the actions of Helen (Maura Tierney), Noah (Dominic West) and Alison (Ruth Wilson) ultimately put the last the nail on Scott's coffin.

The mystery of who was responsible for his death had many "The Affair" fans at the edge of their seats, but in season 3, Tierney said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that everyone involved will deal with the repercussions of the tragedy.

However, "The Affair" season 3 will start off three years after what happened. The wound is no longer fresh as all of them seem to have moved on from the tragedy.

"We go back and forth — sometimes it's a year-and-a-half later, sometimes it's three years later," the award-winning actress teased.

"So everyone has moved on quite a bit, and Helen's in a new relationship and Noah (Dominic West) is sort of beginning a new relationship," she went to say on the situation in "The Affair" season 3.

Tierney was referring to Juliette Le Gall, a new woman in Noah's life to be played by French actress Irene Jacob. She was brought in for an arc that lasts the whole season so expect her to be around for a while.

She was described as someone "running from her own secrets and who helps Noah process a trauma from his past and understand himself a little better."

While Noah's relationship appears to be helping him, the same cannot be said for Helen, who is just "desperately just holding it together" especially seeing his former husband happy with a new woman.

"For Noah, the marriage is over, and I don't think that there's even a lot of love existing there. For Helen, it's sort of turned into more of an obsession," Tierney revealed to TV Guide.

"She has developed a sort of obsessive need for her ex-husband. She feels like that's going to solve all of her problems," she went on to say.

"The Affair" season 3 premieres Sunday, Nov. 20 at 10 p.m. ET on Showtime.
