T.D. Jakes' MegaFest 2007 Cancelled

|PIC1|The highly popular MegaFest with Bishop T.D. Jakes has been cancelled for 2007, said a recent announcement by The Potter's House.

The celebrities, Christian artists and Jakes will not be coming to Atlanta next year for an event that has drawn up to 150,000 people a day. The fourth MegaFest will instead be held in 2008. The venue is yet to be determined.

Despite the cancellation of MegaFest 2007 - a revival event geared toward the entire family - The Potter's House will still hold For Men Only and For Ladies Only conferences next year, the announcement said. Both conferences are scheduled to take place at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas.

MegaFest is one of the largest Christian festivals in the nation drawing children, teens, men and women. The event launched in 2004 and has been a major success every year with corporate sponsors, celebrity and legendary guests and tens of thousands of attendants, mainly African Americans.

And this year, Jakes celebrated 30 years of ministerial service. At the celebration concert, Jakes shared the stage with actor Will Smith, former NFL greats Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith and legendary soul artist Arethra Franklin. Former president Bill Clinton also gave his congratulations in a taped message.

Details have not been released on why The Potter's House will not be hosting the festival next year. More details on MegaFest 2008, however, will soon be released.
