'Super Mario Odyssey' Amiibo content can be unlocked even without it; latest trailer reveals gameplay

Some content on games can often only be unlocked if the player has a special pass or a feature or in this case, Amiibo. Fortunately, for those who are playing "Super Mario Odyssey," having an Amiibo is not required to unlock Amiibo content.

As revealed on the game's official site, Nintendo stated that all outfits can be unlocked even without Amiibo. This means even the wedding outfits that come with the new "Super Mario Odyssey" Amiibo are not exclusive to the toys, as told by IGN. For those who already own Amiibo, then every single Amiibo will work with "Super Mario Odyssey." Some Amiibo will offer some help, while others offer new costumes.

A few months back, there was some confusion regarding the use of Amiibo in another game, "Metroid: Samus Returns." Even though the hard mode was not unlocked behind the toys, Fusion Mode was the one that was unlocked.

In other news, Nintendo also dropped a trailer last week showing the gameplay for "Super Mario Odyssey." The trailer also revealed some of the features that will be evident in the game. Those who have stayed up-to-date with the news regarding the game may already know about these features, but there are other features, like the Assist mode, and the new co-op features that have only been shown just now.

The gameplay trailer also showed the plot of the game. Bowser has yet again, stolen Princess Peach to marry her. Bowser has also destroyed Mario's hat, so Cappy, a sentient hat, takes its place as Mario drives the Odyssey while collecting Power Moons on the way to save the Princess.

With Cappy at hand, Mario is given a new way of attacking enemies as well as a new way of going around by jumping on him, and a new special ability altogether: capturing. Mario throws Cappy at an enemy therefore capturing it and assuming control over it, whether it is an ally, an enemy, or even an inanimate object. They could help Mario swim, go around quicker, or even reach the unreachable locations in the game.

Fans can also see that Mario has a new look. Players can purchase new outfits and caps for Mario by spending regional coins.
