'Stranger Things' Season 3 release date, spoilers: Rumors point to possible death of fan-favorite character

The season 2 finale of "Stranger Things" went well for the main characters of the hit Netflix sci-fi horror series. While the ending of the first chapter was bittersweet with the demi gorgons vanquished at the expense of Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), the second season featured her reunion with Mike (Finn Wolfhard). Unfortunately, the recent plot rumors do not sound great for the pair, as one of them may end up dying in season 3.

As reported by the Daily Star, "Stranger Things" might feature another shocking death in season 3, and the fans will definitely not like it as the casualty will be among the charming kids of the show. Specifically, the character rumored to face death next season is Finn, and with his budding romance with Eleven in season 2, his departure from the series could be very dramatic.

The online publication cited Wolfhard's busy schedule next year as the main reason behind his character's possible death in "Stranger Things" season 3. To recall, the young actor also became a part of the 2017 hit horror film "IT," while its sequel is reportedly in the works. With the upcoming movie's filming expected to start in 2018, this would affect Wolfhard's commitment to "Stranger Things."

"IT" producer Barbara Muschietti said that Wolfhard's appearance in the sequel is needed, even as the sequel will feature the adult versions of the first film's main characters. It is likely that the young actor will be shown in important flashback scenes.

Aside from "IT: Chapter 2," Wolfhard was also cast in another horror series, "The Turning," which is based on the classic novella titled "The Turn of the Screw." This only shows how hectic the actor's schedule will become next year, and the "Stranger Things" producers may have no other choice but to sacrifice his character. Still, Wolfhard was still able to complete his stint as Finn in "Stranger Things" season 2 while filming the major scenes in "IT," which means that the actor may handle the same situation next year with season 3.

According to the latest reports, "Stranger Things" season 3 will be released sometime in 2019.
