Those who are already done with the second season of "Stranger Things" might become guilty after binge-watching all episodes within a few days, as the season 3 of Netflix's sci-fi thriller series is not likely to debut anytime soon. Those who are expecting the third season premiere to come as early as this year will be disappointed, as actor David Harbour revealed in a recent interview that the new chapter won't be around until 2019.

In an interview with Variety, Harbour, who plays the Hawkins chief of police Jim Hopper, said that there could be a one-year break until "Stranger Things" season 3 hits Netflix. If there is any good news at this point, a third season is already a sealed deal as Netflix granted the series renewal late last year. The problem lies with the schedule of filming and writing down the new script.

As per Harbour, the "Stranger Things" creators, Ross and Matt Duffer, have yet to come up with a complete story for season 3. Knowing how hard-working the Duffer brothers are, Harbour believes that the scriptwriting will take some time, and the actual filming will only start around April this year.

The arrival of "Stranger Things" on Netflix back in 2016 has taken the world by storm, and its huge success immediately resulted to a second season. To note, the streaming media giant already paved way for the writing of season 2 storyline even before the series was officially renewed. This means that the potential story of the second season was already in place, which is different in the case of "Stranger Things" season 3 as the writers have yet to set up the new setting and plot.

According to Mashable, a 2019 debut of "Stranger Things" season 3 is understandable, given that the Duffer brothers will need all the time to create a fresh and interesting story to match the 80's setting of Hawkins, Indiana. The first two seasons have already explored the infamous Upside Down, and the fans will want to see something new aside from the fearsome demogorgons crossing from the other dimension and threatening a peaceful town.

In the same interview, Harbour also expressed his interest to go deeper into Jim Hopper's past. It has been known that the character suffered the loss of his daughter, which was somehow relieved when he took in Eleven (Millie Bobbie Brown). Still, the actor believes that there are a lot of things from Hopper's past experiences that can be featured in "Stranger Things" season 3.

"There's a lot of story we can get into around Hopper's time as a cop in New York, Hopper's time in Vietnam," the actor said. "I would love to see more of that, but we have a ton of great characters, so I don't know how much they'll be able to do."
