American TV series "Stranger Things 2" recently ended on a cliffhanger. The final episode left a lot of questions, mysteries, and theories for the fans and followers of the science-fiction series. The series just wrapped up, but fans are already talking about "Stranger Things" season 3. There are already speculations regarding the storylines and new characters.

According to Mental Floss, there is a possibility that a time jump will occur because the actors are already growing up. This means that it will not pick up right where the second season left off. It is also possible that it will have a more intimate storyline instead of expanding it like the previous season.

"It's not necessarily going to be bigger in scale," said Matt Duffer in an interview with IndieWire. "What I am excited about is giving these characters an interesting journey to go on."

It was already hinted that the Mind Flayer is still in the Upside Down world. Hence, there is a significant chance for the monster to be a part of the third season. Newcomer Erica (Priah Ferguson), Lucas's little sister, will have more screen time next season. Due to the energetic, snarky, and charismatic personality of Erica, it made her an instant fan-favorite character.

Aside from Erika, Kali also known as Eight (Linnea Berthelsen) will also return since her storyline was not tackled in the current season. To recall, Kali appeared in episode 7 titled "The Lost Sister," that focused on Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Moreover, other numbers from the Hawkins Laboratory experiments will be joining Eleven and Eight as well.

According to NME, "Stranger Things" season 3 was confirmed by The Duffer Brothers. However, its release date is not yet revealed. Based on the time difference between Season 1 and 2, fans are expecting to see season 3 at the end of 2018 or the beginning of 2019.

The outlet also revealed that there would only be four seasons for the series. This means that the show will be nearing its end. Rumors about a spin-off based on "The Lost Sister" episode is not confirmed as well. According to Kali actress Linnea, she does not think that the episode is a set up for a spin-off.
