'Stranger Things' season 3 news: New series may not come out until 2019, says Jim Hopper actor

Netflix had popular culture on its toes with its horror and science fiction hybrid "Stranger Things." The show only got its second season out last October, but fans are already clamoring for another season. The streaming service already ordered episodes for season 3, but actor David Harbour shared how the next season may not be released until 2019.

In the show, Harbour actor portrays the character of Jim Hopper, Chief of the Hawkins Police Department. In an interview with Variety, he described how the making of the show "like any good thing" takes time.

"I think we're supposed to go into production around April [2018]," Harbour said. He recognized how it might be "annoying for fans" because it takes them a long time to make the show. However, he did say that "Stranger things" season 3 will get better the longer the time spent in production.

Harbour also expressed praises for Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer. Collectively known as the Duffer Brothers, these two were the minds behind "Stranger Things." The two of them wrote, produced, and directed most of the episodes in the series.

"To be honest, I think that those little Duffer kids are so amazing. Such geniuses," Harbour said of the brothers.

"Stranger Things" is a show that first came in July of 2016. It is set in the little town of Hawkins, Indiana during the early 1980s.

Season 1 featured the story of the search for Will Byers, a local kid who suddenly went missing after supposedly coming home from a game night with his friends. What follows is a search that uncovered secret experiments involving children, undertaken by the government during the Cold War.

The series debuted to critical acclaim, and a second season was ordered. "Stranger Things" season 2 aired in October 2017, with all the episodes released in one go.
