Groovy 70s-themed single and local multiplayer fantasy dodgeball game "Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure" is getting a new and exclusive Deluxe edition for the Nintendo Switch next week.

In a press release, developer Game Swing announced that "Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe" will soon be available on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

"It's hard to think of a company that has done more for local multiplayer and this type of social gameplay experience than Nintendo," Game Swing explained. "So naturally launching on a Nintendo platform was always at the top of the wish list."

In addition to going all out for the Nintendo Switch port with a deluxe edition, a new game mode will also be introduced called "Wheel of Rumpus" which is based on classic television shows and is described to add hilariously unfair madness to proceedings. The controls will also be reworked specifically for the Switch and the number of local players could be increased from four to six.

"Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure" is centered on the competitive couch experience delivering accessible fun gameplay in a colorful world full of quirky personalities. Game Swing CEO Martin Petersen said that their take on "Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure" is their first time to self-publish. He adds that they have been able to make what they felt were the right tweaks and improvements to the system saying Nintendo has been great to work with.

The Copenhagen-based production studio is widely recognized for their passion for social gameplay, attention to detail, and originality. The company was founded in 2013 by 5 game students determined to bring their prototype to market.

"Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure Deluxe" will be released on the Nintendo eShop on December 29 in Europe, retailed at €19.99, and on January 4 in the USA, retailed at $19.99. The title will launch with a limited 20% discount on the first 14 days.
