'SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition' news: Nintendo Switch port to arrive before the year ends

"SteamWorld Heist" gameplay preview on PlayStation 4 The PlayStation Store

A wonderful gift is coming to Nintendo Switch players this holiday season as another action-packed game title makes its way to the console platform. The game developer Image and Form has announced earlier this week that "SteamWorld Heist" will get a Switch version before the year ends. The upcoming title is being dubbed as the "Ultimate Edition" game.

Image and Form Games first introduced "SteamWorld Heist" to the public last year, as a spin-off video game to the popular "SteamWorld Dig" franchise. According to Videogamer, "SteamWorld Heist" is a bit different compared to the previous games in the main series. While it still features the elements of the usual platforming game, "SteamWorld Heist" lets the player assume the role of a robot pirate hero named Piper Faraday.

The adventure will be filled with looting, and players will be able to ransack different spaceships in order to collect valuables while fighting off several intergalactic menaces through tactical turn-based action. "SteamWorld Heist" can be viewed from the old-school 2D side-scrolling perspective, and in Nintendo Switch's "Ultimate Edition," players will get all the exciting contents from other console versions.

Image and Form said that the Switch version will be complete with touch controls, as well as the downloadable content (DLC) packs released on other platforms. So far, the expansion packs of the game include an extra character, additional missions, plus a variety of weapons and stylish pirate hats.

"SteamWorld Heist" has received lots of positive reviews since its first launch in 2016. According to Christian Donlan of Eurogamer, the game is "filled with wit and invention," which is worthy of a "Recommended" award. The Nintendo Switch's "Ultimate Edition" is expected to double this treat for the players.

Just a few days after Christmas Day, Nintendo Switch owners can feel the explosive space pirate battle in "SteamWorld Heist: Ultimate Edition." The Switch version can be purchased via download starting on December 28th. Image and Form announced that the game will cost £14.99 or around USD $19.99 upon its release in Europe and North America in the coming weeks. The Switch version can be downloaded from Nintendo eShop.
