Based on the rave reviews, the excitement that is yet to die down and the eye-popping $517 million worldwide opening performance, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" definitely lived up to the hype and is believed to be the "Star Wars" film everyone hoped for.
Fans of the beloved space opera franchise may have already seen the film and for sure, they are unable to forget about that particular scene. [Spoiler Warning! Those who haven't seen the film are recommended to turn away]
Han Solo, the much-loved pilot and former smuggler, met his demise in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" in the hands of his and General Leia's son Ben, who now calls himself Kylo Ren after succumbing to the Dark Side of the Force.
As Han attempted to win back their son and start anew as a family, Kylo Ren tricked him into thinking that he will return to them, hands out his lightsaber only to pierce his father right through his heart. After stroking his son's face one last time, the fan-favorite hero fell to his death.
While many fans are still in denial about the character's death, it looked a lot like "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was really the end of Han Solo. However, media outlets believe that the hero may still show up in "Star Wars: Episode 8."
However, this does not involve resurrecting Han. According to Fansided, Harrison Ford can be back as Han Solo if the upcoming films will involve Rey and Kylo Ren having visions as they attempt to master the ways of the Force.
Han is expected to appear in those visions to guide his son with his decisions, much like how Obi-Wan and Yoda showed up in Force ghost form to help out Luke Skywalker in the previous films. At the moment though, nothing is set in stone yet.
It isn't all that reassuring that Ford himself actually wanted his iconic character to die an honorable death back in third film in the original "Star Wars" trilogy, "Return of the Jedi." Obviously, this did not happen and Ford could not be gladder.
"I thought it would be good that the character, if he sacrificed himself in some noble way," the 73-year-old actor told Jimmy Kimmel on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" via Wired. While he is happy that this did not come to pass, it looks like he stuck with that idea nonetheless.
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" is now showing in cinemas worldwide.
