While it will still be a while until the second installment in the epic "Star Wars" sequel trilogy — "Star Wars: Episode 8" — hits the big screens, a lot of rumors and speculations are now circulating online. The most prominent theories, of course, have been about the possible lineage of one of the movie's main protagonists played by Daisy Ridley, Rey.

There are a lot of theories as to who Rey's true parents really are, some of which are quite far-fetched. However, the actress herself may have already hinted that the true identity of her parents could be revealed in "Star Wars: Episode 8", which will be released next year.

During a recent interview with Vulture, the actress was asked outright if her character was in any way related to Obi-Wan Kenobi. The actress then replied that fans would just have to wait a year and that they should just "sit tight on that question."

The actress was also asked if her character could be the daughter of Jyn Erso, one of the main characters in the upcoming stand-alone "Star Wars" movie, "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story." Ridley then mentioned that it was very unlikely as "historically, it wouldn't work."

The timelines of both movies are pretty far off, which means that if Rey were related to Erso, then she would likely be her great-granddaughter. Ridley was, of course, still speculating on the possibility and mentioned that "it could happen, especially in a galaxy far, far away."

Ridley was fortunately very well composed during the interview and had managed not to reveal that much information about the upcoming movie. The actress had already revealed that she was well aware of who her character's parents were, but she just wasn't allowed to talk about it.

"Star Wars: Episode 8" is scheduled to hit theaters on December 2017, while the stand-alone anthology film "Rouge One: A Star Wars Story" will premiere on Dec. 16 later this year.
