In celebration of the 20th anniversary of "Pokemon Red and Blue," Nintendo will be releasing in Japan four 2DS consoles inspired by the much-loved franchise. The consoles, which unmistakably come with the retro vibe, will be available on Feb. 27.

The 2DS consoles will come in blue, red, yellow and green and will have the respective games already installed. The Verge notes that the blue and red variants were already released in Japan with the advent of "Pokemon Alpha Sapphire" and "Pokemon Omega Ruby."

Getting the new versions to be released in February, however, will score buyers additional goodies. Each of the new 2DS consoles is designed with a special home menu theme. Included in the bundle are additional goodies such as stickers and the region map poster for the game.

Those who will pick up the special consoles will get a download code for the ever mysterious Pokemon Mew, who is one of the characters that are very difficult to pin down. This code can also be used in 3DS games "Omega Ruby," "Alpha Sapphire," and "Pokemon X and Y."

At the moment, the "Pokemon" themed 2DS consoles are only announced for Japan (for more info, visit here). There's no mention of a possible release in North America and Europe. So for now, gamers in the said regions will have to resort to a lot of hoping and waiting.

It is also important to note that on the day that the special edition 2DS consoles will hit Japan, celebrated classic titles such as "Pokemon Blue," "Pokemon Red" and "Pokemon Yellow" will be up for grabs in the 3DS eShop.

According to Nintendo, the games, which are the first titles that started the "Pokemon" gaming fever, were recreated for the handheld console and that the game studio did its best to make them as close as the beloved originals.

Notably, there were technical hiccups in these original games but these glitches are expected to be cleaned up when the reimagined versions arrive.
