Showtime's hit comedy series "Shameless" season 8 recently returned to the small screen with its premiere episode titled "We Become What We ... Frank!" However, there are swirling rumors that this will be the show's final bow.

Once again, fans will be witnessing the hilarious family of Gallaghers. The first episode of season 8 tackles the clan having a huge amount of money to use after Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) sells the crystals they have inherited from Monica (Chloe Webb).

Also, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) swears to abstain from the random hookups she is having as she wants to focus more on her new apartment building. Fans, too, see Lip (Jeremy Allen White) dealing with the consequences after deciding to be sober. Lastly, Frank (William H. Macy) is about to get out of his own meth-induced world in "Shameless" season 8 to correct all the wrongs he has done for so long. Will the show end this time?

Cartermatt reported that Showtime seems to be putting an end to its "great shows." So, there might be a possibility that this will be the final season of the hit comedy-drama television series.

Just like "Shameless," "Dexter" was on its eighth season when it ended. Although there were hearsays that it will be renewed for a ninth chapter, it just did not happen. Also, "Homeland" is said to be coming to an end.

Showtime has yet to reveal if "Shameless" season 8 will be the show's swan song or it will be renewed for another season. However, the story of the Gallagher family seems to be continuing for a long time. Although they have been on air since 2011, the cast members are still having a lot of fun filming it. So, fans don't have to worry and just have to wait for the network's official announcement for the series' future.

"Shameless" season 8 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
