Samsung's next Chromebook, codenamed Nautilus, will reportedly feature a high-end camera.

The Samsung Nautilus is already highly anticipated as previous reports have suggested that the upcoming Chrome OS-powered device will have a 2-in-1 form factor — allowing the device to be used as both a laptop and a tablet.

Now, tech enthusiasts may have something more to look forward to: high-resolution images captured by a Chromebook. A code commit recently discovered by Chrome Unboxed has revealed that the Samsung Nautilus will be equipped with a Sony IMX258 camera — the same lens used by the LG G6's main shooter.

At this time, most Chromebooks in the market only have cameras with a maximum resolution of 720p. If the code commit turns out to be true, Samsung Nautilus will be the first Chromebook to have a high-end camera.

According to Android Headlines, there's even a possibility that the Samsung Nautilus will be equipped with dual-lens cameras. The IMX258 is reportedly the most commonly used lens in this particular setup. Moreover, Samsung has previously used Sony's sensors for its other devices such as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus.

Without official confirmation from Samsung, however, the high-end camera is still a rumor at best. However, the inclusion of this feature would make sense if the South Korean's upcoming 2-in-1 Chromebook does indeed transform into a tablet. The detached display could then be conveniently brought along to trips or adventures.

Other rumored specs include a seventh-generation Kaby Lake Intel Core processor and S Pen functionality. The 2-in-1 form factor could also mean that the screen will be 12 inches or smaller.

The Samsung Nautilus is rumored to be introduced at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) at the Las Vegas Convention Center next week.
