It looks like Samsung doesn't have any plans on staying idle when it comes to releasing high-end smartphones. The release of the Galaxy Note 8, as well as the Samsung Galaxy S8, is still trending, but a Galaxy S9 is already on the cards.

There are several rumors sprouting that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will see an early January launch in 2018, but Samsung itself quenched the rumors saying that a January release would be "highly unlikely." Instead, a March 2018 launch is expected.

For the price, experts tout that there would probably be no significant price increase in the S9 since the upcoming Samsung flagship would probably be just an updated version of the S8 with no several unique features. However, the S9 is said to be hosting some really powerful specs. As of yet, Samsung is keeping a tight lid on those. Still, consumers should expect a hefty price tag for the S9, as its predecessor debuted at $720 retail price.

A new mobile chip is also rumored to be coming to the S9. According to the Investor, the chip is called "Snapdragon 845." Not much known is known about the chip, but it's a certain upgrade from the Snapdragon 835.

Aside from the Snapdragon 845, another mobile chip is said to inhabit some S9 handsets outside the U.S. Samsung just recently unveiled the Exynos 9810 chip, a new powerful mobile chip that includes an LTE modem that can download a full HD movie in just a span of seconds. However, Samsung will most likely stick to its 4-gigabyte (GB) random access memory (RAM), rather than upgrade to 6 GB like other smartphones.

A new Infinity Display design is also rumored to be coming to the S9, and other than a few tweaks, the design will most likely be highly similar to its predecessor. Those who are hoping for an embedded fingerprint sensor in the upcoming unit should also stop hoping, as sources close to the matter touts that "It is highly unlikely for Galaxy S9 to have an in-display fingerprint scanner as the technical challenges are still left unaddressed."
