The New Year's holidays will not stop Samsung from delivering its next flagship smartphone, which is rumored to arrive in February. According to the latest reports, the South Korean tech firm is about to commence with the mass production of Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ units in the coming days. Major features of the upcoming handsets are not yet confirmed, but prior leaks offer ideas regarding their brand new design.
It appears that the expected arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ in early 2018 is right on track as the mass production of the new smartphone units will begin after the New Year's celebration, according to ETNews. The duration of the production stage could last for a month, which would just be on time before the Galaxy S9 is unveiled at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in Barcelona by the last week of February.
ETNews also reported that one of the major upgrades to be expected from the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S9 production is the stacked motherboard. The new motherboard's design is similar to the one used in Apple's latest flagship handset, the iPhone X. The refreshed motherboard will not only provide boost in speed and performance, but its stacked configuration will allow more space inside the smartphone to include a larger battery.
Meanwhile, a new set of render leaks has surfaced before the New Year, showing the front and back portions of the Samsung Galaxy S9. Based on the images, the Galaxy S9 will have almost the same front design as its predecessor, with the Infinity display and slim bezels. It was first thought that the upcoming phone would have thinner bottom bezel for a more immersive viewing.
There is not much difference between the Galaxy S8 and S9 handsets looking at the rear side, as the 2018 flagship leak is shown to sport a single-lens camera. However, the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is transferred below the camera module, which is a good thing as many users have complained about the awkward position of the biometric reader right beside the shooter.
As for the Samsung Galaxy S9+, the recent leaks did not reveal its back panel, although it is rumored that the handset will boast a dual camera setup. If this turns out to be correct, the difference between the S9 and its larger variant will be more than just the size. Sources also claim that the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will keep the 3.5mm headphone jack, and both models will receive Qualcomm's latest high-end mobile chipset, the Snapdragon 845.
