'Riverdale' season 5 midseason finale spoilers, plot news: Jughead and Betty break up, Black Hood targets the Coopers?

The midseason finale of "Riverdale" season 5 is coming with the episode titled "Silent Night, Deadly Night." Although the title has a Christmas tone, the first-ever holiday special will be one of the most disturbing episodes of the show.

The latest episode of the series featured big changes to the show's cast. Jughead's (Cole Sprouse) father F. P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich) got out of jail, while the Lodge family was being targeted by the Black Hood. Aside from that, there is a possibility that Jughead and Betty (Lili Reinhart) will end their relationship in the upcoming episodes. Archie (KJ Apa) and Veronica (Camila Mendes) will also have the same fate.

The show's director and creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that Hiram's influence will be more extensive and powerful. Instagram/thecwriverdale

Fans are aware that the gang has been trying to track down the identity of the murderer Black Hood since the beginning of the season. However, the preview for the show's midseason finale hints that they will be closer to finding out who Black Hood really is. But before they discover the real identity of Black Hood, the killer will have another victim.

The preview features the Black Hood dressed in a Santa outfit while climbing over the couch. Eagle-eyed fans were quick to notice a chilling scene in the teaser with the Santa Black Hood. In the same scene, three dead people are seen on the armchair. Fans can immediately dettermine that the dead bodies are from the Cooper family. According to Refinery29, the bodies could be that of Alice (Mädchen Amick), Polly (Tiera Skovbye), and Hal (Lochlyn Munro). After that scene, Betty is shown with a terrified look.

Is the Cooper family in danger? Did Black Hood really kill them? Or is it just Betty's dream?

On the other hand, Veronica will be digging into her father's shady dealings. Her father Hiram (Mark Consuelos) could have a link to the Black Hood, which Veronica wants to find out. Will Veronica discover something that will lead to the identity of Black Hood?

"Riverdale" midseason finale will air on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 9 p.m. EST on The CW.
