For gamers to catch a glimpse of Lara's latest quest in "Rise of the Tomb Raider," Microsoft and Square Enix decided to make available a demo version of the action-adventure video game exclusive to Xbox One players. The download weighs 21 GB.
The developer and publishers of the game did not detail what the playable demo version contains and how far it will take gamers. As far as its availability goes, on the other hand, there are no concrete details that point to a demo for the Xbox 360.
Needless to say, fans are delighted that they are given the chance to try out "Rise of the Tomb Raider." The game, which puts Lara Croft in deadly landscapes and environments where danger lurks and nature harshest conditions pose the biggest threats, was released early last month.
Users in NEOGAF who have tried the demo are pleased with what they saw and are hoping to experience more. Media outlets report that its launch scheduled on the day Bethesda's "Fallout 4" was released hurt its sales performance.
But this isn't the case for Xbox product manager Aaron Greenberg, who believes that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" had a good run and will "continue to sell through the holidays." He revealed that Microsoft is "really pleased" about what the game has achieved so far.
"It launched in a very crowded window, but it has done well," Greenberg told Dual Shockers. "A lot of people bought both Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider. At the same time we know a lot of people may have bought Tomb Raider and wait on Fallout or bought Fallout and waited on Tomb Raider," he explained.
Just recently, a DLC being planned to be released for "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was accidentally posted on the Xbox Store. It was quickly removed but some reports claim that part of the add-on will grant players two new costumes. The DLC is expected to be officially released next month.
