There is some good news for fans of the highly popular animated science fiction comedy television series "Rick and Morty" as the show's third season has now been announced to be near completion. Along with the announcement, the release window for when the show would be returning to Adult Swim was also revealed to be sometime in the month of December this year.

The writers behind the hit television show had revealed that the show's latest season was actually now almost complete. The writing team — which includes Erica Rosbe and Sarah Carbiener — also revealed that the storyline for the new episodes were actually already completed since last Sept. 28 and that they are just now waiting on their Canadian animation studio to complete their own work on the episodes.

In a recent interview with both writers, they revealed that creating the new episodes was a "grueling" experience and that they had to go through an "extensive" process of coming up with the storyline.

The writers revealed that they actually had a team of 11 writers who had locked themselves up in a room to churn out the new season's different stories.

The December release window also coincides with previous announcements, which includes Mr. Poopy Butthole's proclamation that the show was going to be coming out with new episodes after exactly one year and a half. The long-time family friend of the Sanchez' made the announcement during a second season episode back in October 2015.

As for the new episodes themselves, numerous rumor reports have already predicted that Morty — along with other characters — will be helping Rick escape from prison during the first few episodes. It is, of course, not yet clear how they will be able to break Rick out of prison seeing as that the Galactic Federation is already aware of his prison break plans.
