With the slew of rumors and alleged leaks pertaining to the highly anticipated open-world action adventure video game sequel, "Red Dead Redemption 2," it is now almost a certainty that the game is in the works.

Unfortunately, the game's developer Rockstar Games has not really been that forthcoming about its development status, which is why rumors about the game's possible release date continue to proliferate.

Fans of the franchise have already been disappointed on a number of occasions as the game continued to be absent during several gaming events that had been held over the past couple of months.

The sequel was initially expected to be unveiled during the previously held 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo. When that didn't happen, fans were then quick to assume that it would most likely be making an appearance during the Gamescom Expo back in August. When that didn't happen as well, rumors pointed to a possible launch during the recently held Sony PlayStation Meeting earlier this month.

Despite the growing number of disappointing absences, fans of the series are still adamant that the game's launch will be held very soon. According to the latest reports, the game will be allegedly launched alongside the latest generation consoles, namely the Sony PlayStation 4 Pro and the Microsoft Xbox Scorpio.

Sony already launched their brand new console upgrade, which now leaves Microsoft's Xbox Scorpio console. The new Xbox console is reportedly going to be launched early next year, which rumors have predicted to be the same launch date for "Red Dead Redemption 2."

As for the game itself, several reports have revealed that it could be an entirely new take on the franchise as it will likely contain numerous playable characters and a significantly larger area to explore. The sequel is also rumored to have a new title, which includes the suggestion "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the Old West."
