The latest installment in the highly popular "Read Dead" franchise — "Red Dead Redemption" — was released more than six years ago, which means that another follow-up title is now due. Unfortunately, the game's developer and publisher, Rockstar Games, has not been forthcoming about the status of the game's development, leaving fans with a lot of unanswered questions.

Due to the lack of any official word from the game's developer, several reports and rumors have already popped up online which have tried to pinpoint the game's possible release date. According to the latest rumor reports, the upcoming new sequel — tentatively titled "Red Dead Redemption 2" — is likely to be released alongside Microsoft's next generation console, Microsoft Project Scorpio.

Previous reports had initially predicted that the game was going to be launched alongside Sony's new console, the PlayStation 4 Pro. The console itself had already been unveiled just recently and is set for a November release date. When the sequel was nowhere to be found during the console's launch, fans were quick to deduce that the game might be coming out with Microsoft's console instead.

Microsoft's new console is expected to be coming out in the later part of 2017, which means that fans would still have a long wait ahead of them before they get their hands on the highly anticipated sequel. It would, of course, also make sense for Rockstar to wait for the console's launch as it will be able to provide an entirely new gameplay experience thanks to its next-generation hardware that should be able to churn out amazing graphics and fps numbers.

Xbox's marketing head — Aaron Greenberg — even mentioned that the new console will be setting the bar for its other competitors in the console market with its ability to create libraries and communities. If this is indeed true, then fans will likely be seeing an entirely different "Red Dead" video game next year.
