For the past few days, Rockstar Games has been dropping little crumbs of hints regarding an upcoming big announcement involving its highly popular "Red Dead" video game franchise. Now, after weeks of teasers, the highly anticipated western action adventure video game, "Red Dead Redemption 2," is finally official.

It has, of course, been over 6 years since the release of the original "Red Dead Redemption" video game, and fans have been clamoring for the sequel ever since then. Fans of the series have been at the edge of their seats for the past several days as Rockstar Games had published several cryptic images that hinted at the sequel's arrival.

Over the weekend, the game's developer has mysteriously tweeted a picture of its logo in front of a red background. Despite the numerous comments asking about the meaning of the image, the company had kept silent and did not respond to any of them.

A day after that, on Monday, the company then tweeted a second image, which showed seven silhouette figures in front of an orange sun with a red backdrop. The company's intention was then fully uncovered when Take-Two Interactive officially registered the domain for the new game.

To finally put an end to all the speculations, Rockstar finally published a post on their website officially announcing the game and its scheduled release date.

"Red Dead Redemption 2 will release worldwide in Fall 2017 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems," Rockstar had mentioned. The new game's official page also describes the sequel to be "an epic tale of life in America's unforgiving heartland."

The post further revealed that the first trailer for the upcoming new sequel will be launched at 11 a.m. ET on Oct. 20. The trailer itself should shed more light on the entire premise of the game and perhaps show a glimpse of the possible characters and locations that it will be featuring.
