'Punisher' Season 2 included in Netflix's diverse 2018 lineup, with 'Trolls: The Beat Goes On and 'She-Ra'

Netflix is promising a varied genre of programming for the near future. Just recently, they announced that they will soon be releasing "The Punisher" season 2. They will also be partnering with Dreamworks Animation Television for the production of a number of animated series.

"The Punisher" tells the story of Frank Castle, a man driven to take the law into his own hands.

Unlike most of the heroes in the Marvel roster, Castle does not get his strength from a freak scientific accident but through sheer training. In the story, the titular Punisher is a former member of the United States Marine Corps.

The series, based on the Marvel character of the same name, promises more drama and action on its second season. Jon Bernthal will pay the role of Frank "The Punisher" Castle in the Netflix series. If his tweet is any indication, the actor seems to be excited at the prospect of another season for the show.

Meanwhile, the projects with Dreamworks are more light-hearted than the violent tendencies of "The Punisher."

"Trolls: The Beat Goes On" is a series intended to be a direct sequel to the 2016 hit film. There will also be an adaptation of Dav Pilkey's book series "The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants," and a new series called "Harvey Street Kids." These three series will premiere in 2018.

Next year will also see the release of Guillermo Del Toro's "Trollhunters" season 2 and the science-fiction series "3 Below."

The 80's-era cartoon "She-Ra" will also make a comeback, courtesy of the Netflix and Dreamworks Animations team-up. This "Masters of the Universe" spinoff made its debut in 1985.

The original "She-ra" cartoon followed the adventures of the titular heroine. She is the twin sister of Prince Adam, who is also more famously known as He-Man.

The remake will feature creative output by Noelle Stevenson. A winner of the Eisner Awards for her work in the graphic novel "Nimona," Stevenson will do most of the writing for the Netflix version of "She-ra."
