Promise Keepers to Host Christian Ethics Conference for CEOs

Promise Keepers (PK) and Soderquist Centre for Leadership and Ethics are organising a conference for top business executives with a focus topic on ethics in business. The conference aims to provide leadership training for top business executives centring upon Christian values and ethics.

PK in cooperation with Soderquist Centre for Leadership and Ethics is trying to answer the need for ethical and values-based leadership. Tom Fortson, Ph.D., president and CEO of PK highlighted the importance of such a conference in modern society that is facing the problem of world poverty. "The current business climate indicates a lack of moral clarity," said.

Rich countries and their industries and commerce leaders are in the position to ease and solve the problem of increasing difference between developed and poor countries. Tom Fortson emphasised the importance of the individual in this process: "Influencing the marketplace can go no further than the ethical practices of those who lead industry and commerce. The time is right for this conference and the Soderquist Centre is uniquely positioned to offer some badly needed perspective."

The main point of the conference was said to help find solutions to problems faced in everyday life in business, such as how to understand faith in the workplace or decide on hiring and firing.

Among the speakers are Ken Blanchard, author of bestselling book The One Minute Manager; Don Soderquist, former vice chairman of Wal-Mart; Bill Pollard, author of The Soul of the Firm; call-in guest Rick Warren, author of The Purpose Driven Life; Eric Pillmore, senior vice-president of Tyco International; Don Valencia, former senior vice president for Starbucks, and others.

The ministry of PK, running in its 15th year of existence was founded by Bill McCartney and Dave Wardell, Ph.D. The vision of PK is Men Transformed Worldwide and till now the ministry has reached more than 5.5 million men.

The summit will be followed by the PK 2005 conference entitled: "The Awakening: An Unpredictable Adventure" on 10-11 June 2005. The Series of "Awakening" conferences is scheduled from May to late October all over the USA and Bahamas.
