'Pokemon GO' news: Delibird throws presents to opponents, Weather Effect gets update

After the release of "Pokemon GO" December update, trainers got the chance to catch 20 new Pokemon. Aside from that, Christmas-themed Santa Hat Pikachu also returned to the game. But that is not all, the new Pokemon Delibird also has an amazing surprise for trainers.

According to Reports, Delibird has the ability to throw out explosive presents from its sack-like tail. The fast attack is called Present complete with a special sound effect. A new attack animation is also added to the game wherein Delibird can toss wrapped gifts to its opponents using the Present attack.

It is not only Delibird who can use the holiday-inspired attack. A costumed Pikachu including the ones wearing a Santa Hat, Party Hat, Ash Hat, and a Witch Hat can also do the Present move. All Santa Hat Pikachu that are found in the wild can also do the attack naturally.

Some foreign language versions of "Pokemon GO" mistranslated the attack in a wrong way. Instead of translating it into a word that means gift, it was translated into a word that states the current time. Niantic might fix this problem before the holidays end.

In another news, trainers are pleased with the new Weather Effect update of the game. This feature provides boosts on Pokemon types depending on the local weather condition. But the bonuses are turned off whenever there are local weather warnings being issued.

With this, trainers do not get bonuses even if the weather in the area is good. Most weather advisories come in advance, and the game uses this as a basis to switch off bonuses. Hence, even when there is no storm yet or other extreme weather conditions, the Weather Effect feature will no longer boost any Pokemon.

However, this problem is already fixed by letting the gamers use the "I am safe" button. This allows the trainer to get bonuses even if there is a weather warning on the game. Express UK shared that many players were happy with the update.
