'One Piece Film Gold' Release Date, Spoilers: Zoro has some trouble, movie to have 33-country run

One Piece Film: Gold Toei Animation

After the first two days of release of the 13th feature film of one of the world's bestselling manga by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece Film Gold grossed 11 million dollars in Japan and was said to be the best anime movie made by the franchise. It was reportedly shown on 743 screens which is the largest distribution in any Japanese film.

The film delves into the One Piece crew setting their foot on the largest entertainment city in the world, Gran Tesoro, where World Nobles, government officials, and pirates alike go for amusement and pleasure.

The city was prominently made of gold since the main antagonist, and also the one who dominates the city, Guild Tesoro, contains the power of the devil fruit "Goru Goru no Mi" which causes all the things he touches to turn into gold.

The dark side of the setting is to be seen on slavery and poor people who could not pay their debts.

Eiichiro Oda is known to link and make controversial parallel of his work to social issues that is happening in the world. This film particularly dips into the social injustices between the rich and the poor where the wealthy continue to prosper while feeding off money from the destitute.

The One Piece crew is known to notoriously beat the antagonist without having a "hero mentality". The situation just so happens to coincide with their mission to overthrow a bad guy, usually with the mindset of saving their comrades who are facing a complication.

Fans may speculate that the comrade in danger in this movie might be Zoro, as hinted on the trailer where an unconscious Zoro was held captive in Guild Tesoro's gold. At the end of the clip, crew captain Luffy was heard screaming Zoro's name.

On the twitter page of ANIME NOW!, they announced that One Piece Film Gold will be released in 33 countries including USA, Canada, Singapore, China, and South Korea. One Piece Podcast listed the exact release dates of the film in different countries including Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, and Philippines which will be on August.

Fans may have yet to see the end of One Piece as Oda stated that the manga is now 65% finished. That took 19 years and 834 chapters, according to an article by Christian Times. The other 35% might take him another 10 years to finish the manga and more for the anime. With this, it may become one of the longest running manga and anime in Japan.
