Nokia 6 2018 release date, specs, price news: Device passes China's TENAA, features dual rear camera

Finnish start-up HMD Global, which brought back Nokia phones, will be launching an updated version of its first smartphone, the Nokia 6. With this, there are various reports and speculations about the upcoming Nokia 6 (2018).

Recently, the Nokia 6 (2018) passed through the website of Chinese certification agency TENAA. The mobile phone has a model number TA-1054. However, the website did not reveal other details about the handset. According to reports, the device on TENAA is the dual SIM variant of its Nokia 6 successor. Its design will be similar to Nokia 7.

The rumored phone will feature a bezel-less look with an 18:9 aspect ratio. With that design, it will be on par with other midrange and budget devices. The new Nokia 6 (2018) will also have a 5.5-inch full HD resolution display. It is also possible that it will get a dual-rear camera.

The device will run with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor. It will be paired with 4 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage memory. This way, the handset will be able to counter with other powerful devices like the midrange phones of Xiaomi and Motorola. The fingerprint reader of the HMD phone will also be relocated from the front to the back. This way, the device could accommodate a taller screen.

Other reports reveal that Nokia will soon reveal a flagship device that is an improved version of the current Nokia 8. It will be powered by Snapdragon 835 processor, coupled with 4 GB of RAM, Adreno 540 GPU, and 64 GB in-built storage. It is also possible that it will come out with RAM variations that may include a 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. As of this writing, there is no exact date of the handset's release yet. Pricing will be around $229, which is the price of the current Nokia  6 device on Amazon.

In another news, Nokia 5 received a beta build version of Android 8.0. HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas also announced that the Oreo beta build will be released for Nokia 6 soon. The public Android Oreo version might be released next month for Nokia 5.
