Nokia 1 Android Go phone release date, price, features: Features lightweight apps for increased productivity

Since the return of Nokia in the market in 2017, various flagship phones had been released through HMD Global. After the release of Nokia 2, 5, 6, and 8, there are reports that the company will be releasing a new device called the Nokia 1 Android Go phone in March 2018.

Some specifications of the rumored device were leaked by Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin via Twitter. He shared that the phone will have decent housing. He also added that it will be priced at RUB 5990, which is equivalent to around $100.

The smartphone is designed for emerging markets, and it will feature an improved overall user experience. The budget smartphone will be part of Android Go, or also known as Android Oreo GO program. The goal of Android Go is to enhance user experience through useful applications that can increase productivity. The inexpensive device will come with lightweight apps like Google Maps Go, YouTube Go, and Files Go. These apps will consume less storage and will function in areas with spotty or no internet connection.

The Nokia 1 Android Go phone is expected to launch with entry-level specs. It will have 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB storage. It will also come with microSD card slot for expandable storage. The smartphone will reportedly ship with HD IPS display with 720p resolution. As for its size, there is not any information about it yet, but according to other reports, the screen could be around 5 inches or bigger.

Murtazin also revealed that apart from Nokia 1, Huawei will also launch an Android Go smartphone. HMD Global previously released Nokia 2, which is also inexpensive with a price tag of $110. It has a 5-inch LTPS display and it runs with Snapdragon 212 processor. It also features 1 GB RAM and 4100 mAh battery. The device features an 8-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera.
