The latest wave of New York Knicks trade rumors claim that Carmelo Anthony is being traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers during the offseason.
Kevin Love is expected to be released from the Cavs in the team's effort to solidify its lineup now that its latest rival – the Golden State Warriors – acquired Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant.
The Cavaliers hopes to be champions again next season and it is believed that New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony will help them get there rather than Love, who proves he is not compatible with his current team.
If Anthony were to be traded to the Cavaliers, the team is looking at a new Big 3 with the big man along with LeBron James and Kyrie Irving. It is also a trade that's surely one for the books looking at popularity of the trade assets involved.
According to Ecumenical News, Anthony has the potential to be Cleveland's answer to the Warriors in terms speed, agility and increased scoring, which helped the Dubs in their success as a team.
However, it is believed that this is no time for Knicks to lose its franchise superstar. The team has also built a contender lineup with Chicago Bulls heavyweights Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah hopping onboard.
The Knicks have created for itself one impressive lineup and it is a crucial time for Anthony to be on the team. And while Love has proven himself on court, it appears that the Knicks would want to keep the one familiar with how things are.
Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim said that Anthony wants to be win a champioship in New York and the addition of Rose and Noah might make that happen if they keep their health in tip top condition.
"I know the general opinion is if Noah and Rose are healthy then they'll be a better team. It's just a question of if they will be healthy," he told Syracuse Post-Standard.
"They've been off and on the last two years. They've both been hurt. I think if both those guys are healthy, it certainly would make a big difference and [Kristaps] Porzingis continuing to progress. If those things happen, they can be better," he added.
Boehim also said that while Anthony has helps every team he joined get in a much improved shape, he still might never win a championship title. However, this could change with the latest Knicks additions.
