'NCIS' season 14 spoilers: Dinozzo to return for McGee's wedding?

Dinozzo and McGee go way back. CBS

Special Agent Tony Dinozzo made a tearful exit in the previous season of "NCIS," but it looks like fans won't miss him for long. As per the latest rumors, season 13 might not be the fan-favorite character's last after all, and it is all thanks to a wedding.

In the new season of the most watched drama on television, Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) and Delilah (Margo Harshman) will get married.

Although Dinozzo is no longer working with the team as he chose the life of safety for Tali, he made some good buddies there who are a part of his life as he is to them.

TV Guide suggests that a man like Dinozzo would not want to miss a celebration involving his good friends so he might attend the marriage ceremony.

Since the wedding is happening in "NCIS" season 14, it is possible that Dinozzo might be back for it by having Weatherly do a cameo appearance.

The wedding is not expected to happen early in the season though. McGee will first have to pop the question to Delilah, which is something that will of course need some build-up as much as the wedding itself.

That being said, it looks like the wedding could take place in the finale of "NCIS" season 14, which is also a great time for a possible Dinozzo cameo.

Nothing is set in stone yet for now, but what's sure is that Dinozzo will be replaced by McGee in "NCIS" season 14. This is what showrunner Gary Glasberg told TV Guide.

"He has taken over that mantle. And with that comes tremendous responsibility," he explained. Such development can also open up an opportunity for a conversation between Dinozzo and McGee at the wedding.

Of course, it will be up to how the story goes and if Weatherly agrees to make a cameo in "NCIS" season 14. The actor was part of the show since the beginning, so any chance that fans will see him as Dinozzo again will certainly be mind-blowing for many.

"NCIS" season 14 premieres Tuesday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS.
