'Monster Hunter World' news: Crossover tie-in with 'Street Fighter' adds Sakura and Ryu outfits for hunters

Ryu and Sakura face off with the iconic Rathalos Capcom

Japanese developer Capcom has announced that their newly released "Monster Hunter World" will be getting a crossover event with "Street Fighter V" that will allow hunters to square off against the massive beasts of the wild while cosplaying as either Ryu or Sakura.

According to a blog post on their official site, hunters of both genders will soon be able to don the outfits (and voices) of these two iconic "Street Fighter" characters.

PlayStation 4 (PS4) owners who have a "Street Fighter V" save file on their system will have early access to the quest, "Down the Dark, Muddy Path," which, when completed, will reward them items that will allow them to craft the Ryu set. Those who do not have a save data or are playing on Xbox One will have their own chance to take on the quest some time later, although Capcom promises it will not be too long of a wait.

On an even later date, Capcom will release two new quests for both PS4 and Xbox One users that will reward them with the materials to craft both the Ryu and Sakura sets.

However, the crossover does not end there, as seen in the official trailer for this event. Capcom is also adding two new gestures in the game: the Hadoken and Shoryuken, two of the most famous attacks in "Street Fighter."

Unfortunately, unlike the armor sets, these new gestures will not be free and will instead cost $3.99 on both the PlayStation Store and Xbox Marketplace.

This is not the first collaboration that Capcom has done with regard to "Monster Hunter World" and it is unlikely to be the last. Even before the game was released, Capcom had revealed a special "Megaman" armor set for the Palico, the Hunter's partner in "World."

These crossover events are not limited to just Capcom franchises either as PlayStation 4 owners get a bonus tie-in with the critically acclaimed "Horizon: Zero Dawn" that allows players to dress up as Aloy, the protagonist of the game.
