Gamers who cannot wait until next year to get their hands on the upcoming action role-playing game (aRPG) "Monster Hunter: World" can join in the game's beta test starting this Saturday, Dec. 9, until Tuesday, Dec. 12.
Interested parties can download the game starting Dec. 8. Unfortunately, only PlayStation 4 (PS4) players can download the beta version of the game. Of course, PS4 owners must be first enrolled in a PlayStation Plus subscription before downloading the beta, and a minimum of 5.9 gigabytes (GB) of free space is needed for the download.
The beta mostly gives players a first-hand feel of the game in terms of content. Three quests can be played across two environments, "Ancient Forest" and "Wildspire Waste." In the Ancient Forest, players can hunt the Great Jagras, a fearsome creature yet quite easy to tackle for beginners. If they feel the Jagras is no threat, then players can hunt the Anjanath, another huge monster that requires skill and a lot of experience in dealing with dangerously huge creatures.
Meanwhile, Wildspire Waste, a desert-like area filled with swamplands, is home to the mud-slinging Barroth. Intermediate-level players can have a fun time hunting down the monster in the beta.
Players can also opt for either Single Player or Multiplayer mode in the game. In the Multiplayer version, there would be a few unavailable features in the beta that will only appear in the game's full version, like joining quests midway through a game and Guild Cards, among others. In the beta, players can join a quest with other players from other countries, and they will have the option to set a language filter so they would only be matched with players who speak the same language as them.
According to the Capcom Unity Blog, the beta only offers a preview of the actual contents of the game, as many of the full game's features are still being perfected. So, players should expect that the completed game will be different from the beta, especially in terms of balance. However, gamers can rest assured that the beta still offers the thrill of hunting giant monsters.

"Monster Hunter: World" will go live on Jan. 26, 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One. A PC version release will follow soon after.
