Episode 2 of "Modern Family" season 9 just aired and new promotional images for episode 3 as well as the synopsis has been released. The synopsis hints at some superstitions and bad luck in the air for the family members and how it shows up in different ways.
Episode 3 titled "Catch of the Day" reveals that Phil (Ty Burrell) is convinced that he is going to have a whole day of bad luck after he fails to complete his daily superstition. On the other hand, Claire (Julie Bowen) has no time for his superstitions and is determined to make it to a concert.
In another household, Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) and Cam (Eric Stonestreet) are renovating their kitchen. Mitch is certain that Cam is undermining him during this time. As for Jay (Ed O'Neill), he is set on getting Gloria (Sofia Vergara) to admit that she was in a car accident.
The first few images show Gloria and Jay getting into an argument of what seems to be in their kitchen. Clearly, Gloria does not want to admit the accident that she was in. The next few images show Mitch and Cam enjoying a little moment in the kitchen, with Cam sporting an apron and mixing something in a bowl.
The other images show Jay spending some time with Joe in his room. The two of them are talking and it looks like Jay is tucking him in bed while Gloria watches them with her arms crossed.
Previously, Phil and Claire paid Alex (Ariel Winter) a visit in college. Alex surprised her parents with how good she was doing in college, but there is another thing that Alex will break to them. Alex has decided to live in the dorms and Phil and Claire cannot help but be concerned. Even though they want Alex to be independent, they are worried about letting her live so far away from them.
Manny (Rico Rodriguez) has also headed off to college, and his parents have decided that he would be living in the dorms just like Alex. Even though Manny is scared of having to live away, he will try to avoid crying in front of his parents.
"Modern Family" season 9 airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. EDT on ABC.
