"Modern Family" season 8 won't be the final run of the series. However, Steve Levitan, the co-creator of the hit television mockumentary, has already mulled over the show's ending and when it could happen.

"I'd love to see the show go 10 years. I'm not sure why, it just seems like a nice, even number," Levitan said during an interview with told ABC News.

"But I think nine years would be okay. But we gotta just sort of assess it and make sure we're not limping out. We wanna go out strong," he went on to say.

In the past seven years, all sorts of stories have been told in "Modern Family," but the show ending is not due to the creators running out of stories to tell. After all, they never have problems with having more yarns to spin.

As the inevitable end of the series approaches, Levitan puts in motion the slew of tricks up his sleeves to make Modern Family" season 8 memorable.

For starters, there will be a Halloween episode that will be one for the books all because of Jay's choice of costume (Ed O'Neill) for himself and for Gloria (Sofia Vergara) and Joe (Jeremy Maguire).

"Jay's big costume idea is him, Gloria and Joe are going to be Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and that leads to some problems," Levitan revealed to Entertainment Weekly.

"Jay is going to be Jesus on Halloween," he reiterated, seeing that it is something that is not easy for many to sink in, especially when it comes to life in "Modern Family" season 8.

"Modern Family" season 8 will also be made memorable with Nathan Fillon and Martin Short appearing. The "Castle" alum will play the role of a local television weatherman who crosses paths with the Dunphy family.

Short, on the other hand, will play the "local king of promotional merchandise" who works with Phil (Ty Burrell) on promo items like calendars, pencils and mugs.

"Modern Family" season 8 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 p.m ET on ABC.
