'Minecraft' update news: Next week's update will be released to support Oculus Rift

A glimpse of the new "Minecraft: Pocket Edition" skin pack Mojang

In celebration of Minecraft's first year with Windows 10, they announced on the end of July that the well-known block stacking and crafting game will be available for VR using Oculus Rift in the coming weeks. Fans of the game can now experience an immersive virtual reality exploring the worlds of Minecraft.

Mojang previously said that it will come with the 0.15.6 update which was slated for release last week. The update was out but the VR support is nowhere to be seen.

Tomasso Checchi of Mojang posted on Twitter that the supposed release date for the Rift would instead come out for the coming week.

"PSA: unsurprisingly, promised dates change :) We said that Rift support would be in 0.15.6, but it will be out next week instead!"

The Minecraft Pocket Edition also updated several features of the game including different colored bunnies and enhanced Redstone's capabilities to be used for 'elaborate devices.' They also allowed gamers to build their own world through Minecraft Realms, a cross-platform Realms service, where they can invite their friends to come over and play. The game also released several special skinpacks, one of which is the Villains pack, to allow players experience enhanced customization of their characters.

Before gamers could play the virtual reality world of Minecraft, they must first download the latest version of their PC to Windows 10. Also, the Minecraft Pocket Edition which is available at Google Play Store will only support Oculus Rift with the latest Microsoft OS. Samsung gear VR also launched their virtual reality edition of the game on April although the enhanced and better version of Oculus Rift could give gamers a better experience in playing Minecraft.

If gamers would want to take part with the immersive experience of the game they must have to invest ample money for Oculus which cost around $600. The Oculus Rift also fixed their backlog of pre-orders they experienced on first launching device and customers may expect to receive their purchase for two to three days.
