In what seems to be an effort to take advantage of the hype generated by the upcoming superhero reboot movie "Power Rangers," Bandai Namco has now announced a brand new four-player side-scrolling game based on the franchise titled "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle."

The game itself was described as a re-imagining of the classic beat-em up genre, and will be placing players into different situations, with some taken directly from the 1993 classic "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" television series.

Players will reportedly be able to gradually level up their characters in order to go through more difficult levels and fight stronger enemies. All of the classic elements that were found on the television show will also be featured in the game, including the huge robotic Megazord, classic Power Ranger weapons, and even their fighting techniques.

All of the weapons, moves, and combos will apparently be unlocked along the way. Players will also be able to unlock additional characters including Tommy Oliver and his Green Ranger and White Ranger persona. Other characters from the television show are also featured, including human characters such as Kat, Adam, Rocky, and Aisha.

Bandai also mentioned that majority of the dialogue and situations will be familiar to those who were avid fans of the classic television series as conversations from the show have been integrated into the game itself. Majority of the content is apparently based on the first and the second season of the show.

"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Mega Battle" is scheduled to be released in January 2017 and will be made available for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The "Power Rangers" movie, on the other hand, is scheduled to premiere on March 24, 2017. The movie will be featuring the classic characters of the television show, which will be portrayed by an all-new cast.
